ABOUT US

At Arizona Working Aussies, we are dedicated to preserving the working ability of the Australian Shepherd while promoting excellence in stockdog handling.  Our mission is to foster a community of skilled handlers and dogs through competitive and educational events.  With a focus on stockdog trials, we aim to showcase the intelligence, working ability, and drive of the remarkable dogs in real-world herding situations.

Our trials are designed to give handler-dog teams of all levels a fair and achievable challenge.  Our stock isn't trained to any specific courses, so they are not course-broke.  They are worked consistently by different skilled handler-dog teams for several months, before our events, keeping them responsive and prepared while staying true to their natural instincts.

Our Vision

With boundless enthusiasm and a deep commitment to the Australian Shepherd breed, Arizona Working Aussies (AWA) proudly collaborates with ASCA to promote and protect these remarkable dogs.  We are dedicated to hosting numerous stockdog trials throughout the year, welcoming not only Australian Shepherd owners but also other ASCA-approved breeds to compete in our exhilarating stockdog sanctioned events.  Each event is a celebration of skill, camaraderie, and the joy of showcasing these incredible dogs.

Our Goals

  • We strive to educate and support all owners in understanding the breed’s history and unique qualities, while advancing the interests of the Australian Shepherd. 

  • AWA encourages ethical breeding practices and sportsmanlike competition at all trials. 

  • Our events follow ASCA rules and regulations, and we urge breeders to uphold the ASCA breed standard as the benchmark for excellence by which the breed shall be judged.

We are excited to announce that The Copper Crown Series
for 2025 will consist of only the Tequila Two Step and the

Hedgehog Hustle trials! This streamlined, two-trial series will

be more competitive than ever, rewarding the best of the best

with ultimate bragging rights.
